Ludhiana (Punjab), January 14, 2026:Panic gripped a village on the outskirts of Ludhiana after more than 50 people reportedly fell ill after consuming langar during a local function in village Iali on Wednesday. Several people, including children and elderly residents, complained of vomiting and severe stomach pain shortly after eating the food served at the event.
According to preliminary information, the illness is suspected to be a case of food poisoning. Locals said that the gajrela served in the langar is believed to have caused the sudden deterioration in health. The affected individuals were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
Village elders stated that the langar is organised every year and no such incident has occurred in the past. They have demanded a thorough investigation to determine where negligence may have occurred during the preparation or storage of the food.
