2nd 7-Day Civil Defence Training Camp begins at SBS Nursing College
Ferozepur, January 16, 2026:The second seven-day Civil Defence training camp commenced with great enthusiasm on Friday at SBS Nursing College, Ferozepur. The workshop, titled ‘Training and Capacity Building of Civil Defence’, aims to provide continuous training to volunteers over a period of seven days.
Assistant Controller, Civil Defence Ferozepur, Gurlavdeep Singh attended the inaugural function as the chief guest. The camp was formally inaugurated with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and prayers by the chief guest, Chairman Dharampal Bansal, and members of the Civil Defence team.
Addressing the volunteers, District Commandant-cum-Assistant Controller Civil Defence, Gurlavdeep Singh highlighted the importance of Civil Defence training and said that every citizen should undergo such training to be better prepared for emergencies. He informed that during the seven-day camp, training will be imparted by teams from Civil Defence, the Health Department, Fire Services, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). He added that the government is making serious efforts to ensure the safety of citizens, and trained Civil Defence volunteers become capable of protecting their families and society during crises.
Chief Warden Civil Defence, Parminder Singh Thind, said that whether it is a war situation or a natural disaster, Civil Defence has always played a vital role. He cited the commendable services rendered by Civil Defence wardens during the Kargil War, Operation Sindoor, and recent floods.
Store Superintendent Parminder Singh Bath briefed the volunteers about the training schedule and the activities planned during the seven-day programme. Chairman Dharampal Bansal lauded the government’s initiative, calling it a noble cause, and expressed happiness that SBS Nursing College is contributing to the service of the nation and society through this programme.
Among those present on the occasion were Deputy Chief Warden Civil Defence Prem Nath Sharma, Company Commander Anish Gupta, Ramandeep Singh, Post Warden Hari Ram Khindri, Rajeev Wadhwa, Navjot Singh, Rajnish Kumar, and sector wardens, besides a large number of volunteers.
