35 schools receive footballs under FIFA program at PM SHRI Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya
Ferozepur, February 13, 2026: A football distribution ceremony under the Football for Schools programme of FIFA - International Federation of Association Football -was organized with great enthusiasm at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, a PM SHRI school, on Thursday.
The initiative aims to promote interest in sports among school students, encourage a healthy lifestyle, and strengthen the spirit of teamwork. During the event, footballs were distributed to teachers and students from 35 government and aided schools across Ferozepur district.
Parm Pal Singh, Naib Tehsildar, Mallanwala, attended as the chief guest, while Harjeet Singh Gill, President of the Football Association Ferozepur, was the guest of honour. Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasized the importance of sports in the physical and mental development of students and said such programmes play a vital role in strengthening sports culture.
Vice-Principal Sunil Dogra highlighted that sports are an integral part of student life alongside academics. He also elaborated on the significance of the Football for Schools programme in providing global exposure and motivation to students.
An exhibition football match was also held between Aravali House and Nilgiri House. Both teams displayed commendable sportsmanship, but Nilgiri House emerged victorious with a 5–3 win, drawing applause from the audience.
The event was conducted smoothly by Jaswinder Pal and Vijay Singh Meena (Vice-Principal). The match was organized by Raj Kumar (PGT History), while overall arrangements were managed by Urmila (Physical Education Teacher). The vote of thanks was presented by Charanbir Singh, TGT Physical Education.
The ceremony concluded successfully, instilling renewed enthusiasm for sports among students.
