Chandigarh, March 17, 2026: Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goel on Tuesday said that the state government has taken firm action in a corruption case involving the Chairman of the Julana Municipal Committee.
Speaking during the ongoing Budget Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha, the Minister informed the House that the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Karnal, had registered an FIR against Sanjay Kumar on August 16, 2025. He added that the government acted promptly by placing the Chairman under suspension with immediate effect on the same day.
Goel clarified that since the Chairman has already been suspended, dissolving the entire municipal body at this stage would not be appropriate.
Reiterating the government’s stance on corruption, the Minister said that strict and timely action is being ensured in such cases. He also assured that any further proceedings in the matter will be carried out in accordance with the law.
