Supreme Court stays High Court order quashing chargesheet against 8 HCS officers, seeks reply from state government, officers

New Delhi, March 26, 2026: In a significant development Supreme Court of India has stayed Punjab and High Court order quashing chargesheet against 8 HCS officers of 2001 who were accused of being selected on favouritism and malpractices.
A Bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehra issued orders of stay on a Special leave petition filed by Congress leader Karan Dalal and issued notices to state government and concerned officers to file their replies in four weeks.
It is worth mentioning here that High Court had quashed chargesheet against these officers filed by Vigilance Bureau stating that neither their names were included in FIR not they were investigation and instead their names were included 18 years after the incident.
