Distt Admn launches campaign to trace and preserve rare manuscripts under Gyan Bharatam Mission
Ferozepur, April 20, 2026: The Government of India has launched a dedicated initiative under the 'Gyan Bharatam Mission' to identify, document, and preserve rare and ancient handwritten manuscripts available at various locations across the country for future generations.
Sharing details during a meeting with officials of different departments, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Dr. Amandeep Kaur said that the mission aims to locate and safeguard old manuscripts and handwritten records of historical and cultural significance. Once identified, details of these manuscripts will be uploaded on the Gyan Bharatam mobile app.
She informed that survey teams have been constituted across the district to carry out this task. These teams will identify such valuable manuscripts and upload their information digitally to ensure proper documentation and preservation.
Dr. Amandeep Kaur appealed to residents of the district to extend full cooperation to make this mission a success. She urged individuals, institutions, libraries, gurdwaras, temples, deras, and other places possessing rare manuscripts to share relevant information with the authorities.
