New Delhi, April 24, 2026: In a major political realignment, two-thirds of the Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha Members of Parliament have announced their decision to merge with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), marking a significant setback for AAP in the Upper House.
Addressing the development, MP Sandeep Pathak spoke emotionally about his decade-long association with the party, stating that his departure was a deeply personal and difficult decision.
“I had never thought that such a situation would ever occur in my life. But it did. I was a part of this party for 10 years. Today, I am separating my path from that of the AAP,” Pathak said.
He added that he had joined AAP believing in its promise of “new politics and politics of work,” and said he had consistently prioritised the party’s interests in all his decisions over the years.
“In 10 years, I worked hard. All political decisions I made were taken by prioritising the party’s interests. I am joining the BJP today and giving up all my positions in AAP,” he stated.
