Shambhu Rail Blast: Four accused sent to 7-day police remand

Patiala (Punjab), April 29, 2026: In a major breakthrough in the railway track blast case near Shambhu, Patiala Police on Wednesday secured a seven-day police remand of four arrested accused from a local court.
The accused—Pradeep Singh Khalsa, Kulwinder Singh Bagga, Satnam Singh Satta and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi—were produced before the court under tight security.
The police sought remand, stating that detailed interrogation is crucial to uncover the larger conspiracy and identify other individuals involved. The court accepted the police plea and granted seven days of custody for further investigation.
Notably, a powerful explosion had occurred on a railway track near Shambhu, where the accused allegedly attempted to target a goods train, potentially causing major destruction. The incident also resulted in the death of one person.
During the remand period, police will probe the source of the explosives and examine whether the act was carried out at the behest of any terror outfit or anti-national elements.
