PAU official visits KVK, guides farmers on modern techniques, better marketing
Ferozepur, April 29, 2026: Dr. Tarsem Singh Dhillon, Associate Director (Extension Education) of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, recently paid a special visit to Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ferozepur to review ongoing agricultural activities and interact with farmers.
He was welcomed by Dr. Gurmel Singh, Deputy Director (Training), who briefed him in detail about the current agricultural scenario in Ferozepur district and the challenges faced by local farmers.
During the visit, Dr. Dhillon inspected the technical park, demonstration units, and seed production, grading, and packaging facilities at the KVK. He appreciated the efforts being made by the centre in providing quality seeds and technical support to farmers.
Interacting with farmers present at the centre, he shared valuable information about improved varieties of paddy and basmati recommended by PAU, along with their yield potential. He also emphasized the importance of soil and water testing, advising farmers to use fertilizers strictly based on soil test reports. Highlighting the benefits of balanced fertilizer use, he said it not only improves crop quality but also helps maintain soil health and reduces unnecessary expenditure.
Later, Dr. Dhillon visited fields of chilli growers in the region, where farmers discussed issues related to production and marketing. Dr. Gurmel Singh guided them on reducing cultivation costs through judicious use of fertilizers and pesticides.
Dr. Dhillon further stressed the importance of effective marketing strategies for higher profits and urged farmers to adopt modern agricultural techniques to strengthen their economic condition.
