Amritsar ([Punjab), May 6, 2026 (ANI): The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has urged media personnel and vloggers to refrain from conducting interviews or recording interactions with devotees inside the premises of Golden Temple, stressing the need to maintain the sanctity and decorum of the holy shrine.
SGPC Chief Secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan said that thousands of devotees visit the shrine daily with deep श्रद्धा, and unnecessary questioning or recording within the parikrama often causes inconvenience and hurts religious sentiments.
He reiterated that directives from Akal Takht Sahib already prohibit any form of media byte or interview inside the parikrama. He appealed to all media organisations and journalists to strictly follow these guidelines and avoid filming or questioning devotees within the premises.
Mannan advised that if public reactions are required on any issue, they should be recorded only at designated locations outside the parikrama to ensure devotees are not disturbed during their visit.
Referring to a recent incident where sevadars stopped a private channel from recording conversations inside the premises, he termed it unfortunate that questions were instead raised against the sevadars. He emphasised that media must respect established norms and religious protocols.
The SGPC also cautioned against the misuse of artificial intelligence in creating or circulating objectionable content related to Sikh Gurus, religious symbols, or the holy shrine. Mannan urged media outlets to avoid broadcasting or sharing such material and, if reporting is necessary, to limit it to factual information without displaying or repeating offensive visuals.
He further appealed to the public to refrain from sharing such sensitive content and instead report it to concerned authorities or social media platforms.
