Surrey (Canada), May 10, 2026: A dramatic road accident near the Surrey-Delta border on Saturday afternoon left a motorcycle hanging from an overhead traffic signal, drawing large crowds and halting traffic in the busy intersection.
According to Delta police, the collision took place shortly before 3 p.m. near the intersection of Scott Road and 72nd Avenue involving a motorcycle and a sedan. Emergency responders rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the crash.
Police said the motorcyclist sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment. The driver of the car escaped without injuries.
Eyewitness images and videos shared online showed the motorcycle suspended high above the roadway, tangled around a traffic signal pole. The unusual sight attracted dozens of onlookers, many of whom stopped to record the incident on their phones.
Local resident William Chan, who was passing through the area, said he initially noticed a heavily damaged car in the intersection before realizing the motorcycle was hanging overhead.
He described the scene as something “straight out of a movie,” adding that he had never witnessed anything similar before.
Another bystander, Jevon Ryan, expressed disbelief over how the motorcycle ended up wrapped around the traffic signal structure, calling the incident shocking and difficult to comprehend.
The crash forced authorities to temporarily shut down Scott Road between 70th Avenue and 72nd Avenue as crews worked to remove the damaged motorcycle, clear debris and restore traffic movement.
Police have not yet released details regarding the cause of the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing.
