Haryana farmers to get Rs 10,000 per acre every year for switching to organic farming

Chandigarh, May 13, 2026: The Haryana Government has announced a major push towards natural and organic farming, offering farmers a subsidy of Rs 10,000 per acre every year for the next five years to encourage chemical-free agriculture.
Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana said the scheme aims to increase farmers’ income, improve soil health and reduce the excessive use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides.
The minister said the growing demand for healthy and chemical-free food products has created better market opportunities for organic produce. The government now wants more farmers to shift towards natural farming so they can earn higher profits while protecting the environment.
Under the scheme, farmers adopting natural or organic farming practices will receive financial support, but they will first need to get certification from the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA). This certification will help ensure the quality and authenticity of organic products.
The state government has also decided to dedicate around 800 acres of Agriculture Department land for organic farming over the next 10 years. This land will be leased to farmers who commit to practising natural farming for at least a decade.
To make the certification process easier, the government plans to develop a state-level authorised agency. The Haryana State Seed Certification Agency will handle organic certification so that farmers do not have to depend on outside organisations, saving both time and money.
Special facilities will also be created in mandis across districts such as Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Karnal, Sonipat, Rohtak, Gurugram, Faridabad, Hisar, Charkhi Dadri and Narnaul. Farmers practising organic farming will get dedicated space to sell their produce.
Modern testing laboratories will also be established in these mandis to check the quality of organic produce. Officials say this will help Haryana’s organic products gain recognition in national as well as international markets.
The government believes the initiative will not only improve farmers’ earnings but also help protect the environment, improve soil fertility and provide healthier food to consumers.
