Punjab MC Polls Results: AAP crosses 724 seats, Congress at 288 (3:33 pm)

Chandigarh, May 29, 2026: The ruling Aam Aadmi Party continued its strong performance in the Punjab local body elections, winning 724 seats as per the latest results released by the State Election Commission Punjab till 3:33 PM on Friday.
According to the official tally, the Indian National Congress secured 288 seats, while Independent candidates registered victories in 221 wards across the state.
The Shiromani Akali Dal won 151 seats, whereas the Bharatiya Janata Party managed to secure 85 seats.
The counting of votes for municipal corporations, municipal councils and nagar panchayat elections continued across Punjab amid tight security arrangements.
