Gulzar Singh Ranike during meeting
Chandigarh, April 2, 2015: Captain Amarinder Singh announced that he and other Congress MLAs will aggressively campaign in Dhuri Bye-elections from April 6 and 8 in favour of Congress candidate Simarpartap Singh Barnala. He admitted that the decision has been taken on the directions of Party President Sonia Gandhi. He told that senior Congress leader and Barnala MLA Kewal Dhillon will his poll campaign in charge. Addressing press conference here today Captain Amarinder Singh said that the poll campaign by the Congress in Dhuri Bye-elections will be fully aggressive with the participation of all leaders. He alleged that Punjab State Unit Congress President Partap Singh Bajwa is creating confusion among voters of Dhuri Assembly constituency. He said that at first instance Gurmit Singh Sodhi was made incharge and subsequently replaced by Vijay Inder Singla. It is common tradition that only one incharge for the election is appointed and changing the heads in the middle of election is not a good practice, he added. Captain Amarinder Singh claimed that there is nobody is with Bajwa during election campaign except his wife. When questioned about the possibility of winning elections by the Congress candidate Amarinder said that it is difficult to defeat the candidate of ruling party but expressed confidence that Congress party will win and we had already created such precedents.
