Breaking: Several injured in shooting near rave attended by 3,500 in Switzerland

Aarau, Switzerland, August 30, 2026: Several people were injured in a shooting near a rave in northern Switzerland overnight, police said on Sunday.
The incident took place in Aarau, north of Zurich, and prompted a large-scale police response. Authorities said there were “multiple victims” but did not immediately provide further details about the number or severity of the injuries.
According to Swiss newspaper Blick, the shooting occurred before 3 am local time on Sunday on the sidelines of the annual Aarauer Rave.
Around 3,500 people attended the techno event, which began at 3 pm on Saturday and continued until 2 am Sunday. Police spokeswoman Vanessa Rumpold told Blick that the shooting took place at the racecourse where the rave was being held.
“Several shots were fired within a large group of people,” she was quoted as saying. A witness reportedly described hearing “bursts of gunfire” during the incident.
Police have launched an investigation into the shooting. Further details about the victims and the circumstances leading up to the incident are awaited.
