Canada continues to stop PR sponsorship under Parents and Grandparents Program

  Ottawa, July 16, 2026: Canada has decided to continue with ban on PR sponsorship under Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP). This means no new applications will be taken under PGP and only old applications will be processed under the scheme. This decision has been taken for year 2026 and IRCC will continue to process applications received for year 2025.
  
  Government had decided to provide PR under PGP during 2026, 2027 and 2028. It has also been announced that for future decision will be announced in due course of time.
