Heatwave: Meteorological department issues orange alert for Punjab
Chandigarh, May 27, 2020: For the last four days, the heatwave is on the rise and the Punjab Meteorological Department had also issued a red alert but now the Meteorological Department has said that people will get some relief from the heat in those days because a Western Disturbance is developing which will become active in Punjab in a day or two and there will be some drop in mercury.
Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, Head, Meteorological Department, Punjab Agricultural University said that a fest distance is moving towards Punjab which will definitely give some relief to the people from the heat though she said that mercury would have been even higher in the month of May. However, due to the cold weather in the past, people are now feeling a little hotter. She also said that the hot winds that are blowing will definitely help in knocking the monsoon towards Punjab in time.
