SOLAR POWER
The department is seriously thinking to go for mandatorory solar power plant installation on the roof tops of private educational institutions in Chandigarh and to ensure that a meeting of Private Educational Institutions of Chandigarh was convened by Dabendra Dalai, Director S&T&RE cum Chief Executive Officer CREST. In this meeting around 36 representatives from different educational institutions attended and their difficulties and the benefits of the project were discussed threadbare and were made aware about the deadline set for mandatory installation of Solar Power Plants i.e. 30th September 2019.
Dabendra Dalai explained that systems can be installed on the CAPEX mode or in the RESCO mode where third party installs and maintains the system for 25 years and supply power at the discounted rates on the same tariff for 25 years. The economics of the project was explained to all in a very simple term.
It was also emphasised that CREST intends to aggregate the capacity of institutional consumers and select a RESCO player under competitive bidding. The selected RESCO player/players will set up rooftop solar on the consenting educational institutions consumers. The selected RESCO party will install the rooftop solar on the roofs of the consenting institutions and operate and maintain the system for a period of 25 years and provide electricity at rates lower than the grid electricity rates. A fixed and pre-determined tariff will shield educational institution from future power increase from the Grid and will lead to electricity bill savings in the present and in future too.
