Panchayat authorized to spend Rs. 5000 per day from their income to help distressed people: Deputy Commissioner
Ferozepur, March 28, 2020: Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur, Kulwant Singh has said that on the directive of state government the Panchayats of the state have been authorized to spend Rs. 5000 per day from their income to cater to the needy people i.e. the weaker sections of the society.
Divulging more, the deputy commissioner said that the state government has enabled all the Panchayats to spend Rs. 5000 per day maximum amount of Rs. 50000 during the whole lockdown period to help people with Ration and other daily needs. He said that during curfew-like circumstances some people rely on their daily wages i.e. Rickshaw puller, daily wagers, construction workers and other laborers have to face a lot of difficulties to meet their family needs adding he said that the state government has authorized all the Panchayats to help such people by spending Rs. 5000 to provide them with daily needs.
DC exhorted all the Panchayats to immediately follow the orders issued by the state government to provide relief to the needy and poor people in the rural areas so that they can be strengthened during this lockdown period. The deputy commissioner asked ADC (development) and Panchayat development department to ensure the implementation of the guidelines issued by the state government.
