Bathinda, Dec 7, 2016: Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Scheme, 16389 beneficiaries have been identified in the district to give them free gas connection. These beneficiaries will be given free gas connection and regulators.
Giving this information here today the D.C Ghanshyam Thori said that the women living below Poverty Line are given free gas connection. To avail benefit under this scheme, the applicant should have her BPL card, BPL ration card, Aadhar or voter I card and one pass port size photo. The connection will be issued in the name of female head of the family. It’s mandatory for the applicant to have bank account.
He added that in order to identify beneficiaries for the district the District Food Supplies Controller, block development and panchayat offices and sarpanches held camps in various towns and villages. The forms received during these camps have been given to respective area gas agency that will upload data from the forms on their respective online portals.
Thori said that the verified forms will soon be issued connections as per the government instructions. He added that the beneficiaries are being identified on the basis of women included in Social Economic and Caste Census (SECC) 2011 lists. Also those women, who do not have gas connections, too have been included in these lists.
He added that till Dec 3, 32195 beneficiaries had been contacted in district of which 13636 were those whose names do not find mention in SECC 2011. Total 16389 forms have already been uploaded while work on rest is going on. (Manmeet Sidhu)
