Fatehgarh Sahib, June 17, 2018: Dr Lakhwinder Singh, Professor, Deptt. of Electrical Engg. and Dean Academics, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib presented his research paper, “Application of UPQC for Power Quality Improvement in Induction furnace", in Canada.
This research paper has now been accepted for the presentation and publication in ‘IEEE 54th Industrial & Commercial Power Systems Technical Conference” to be held at Niagara Falls, Ontario,Canada.
Dr. Lakhwinder Singh said that being the 54th International Conference, a large number of scientists, researchers and industrialists were at the conference to deliberate on various topics such as power systems operation, control and power quality improvements. The thrust of the conference was on power industry planners which are continuously pushing for high quality electric supply and in this cause the researchers have the daunting task ahead. The researchers are also one of the main shareholders in the planning, operation, control and power quality of power system and is showing a variety of challenging problems.
He said that in this conference, deliberations were made on Industrial and Commercial Power Systems and the conference was very fruitful in his research area and will be beneficial for upcoming Power System Reforms in India. He also thanked Dr. Jaspreet Singh Dhillon and Dr Tejinder Singh Saggu for their contributions in this paper.
Congratulating Dr Lakhwinder Singh on this occasion, Principal of the college, Maj.Gen (Dr) G.S. Lamba (VSM) said that Dr Lakhwinder Singh has been continuously contributing towards research in Power Systems and has also presented his paper in Power Systems Conference at Clemson University, Clemson, SC, USA in 2006. He further said that in 2012, Dr Lakhwinder Singh attended conference at University of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. In 2016, he was invited to present his research paper in ‘IEEE International Conference on Power System Technology.
