Jalandhar, November 05, 2018 : In order to check the sale of spurious sweets and milk products during the ongoing festive season, the Sub Divisional Magistrate Jalandhar II Mr. Paramveer Singh today conducted surprise checking, under the Tandarust Punjab Mission’ at sweet shops in area under his jurisdiction.
The Sub Divisional Magistrate along with the Food Safety Team conducted checking at two sweet shops at the local Pathankot chowk locality. He checked the place of preparations of the sweets and asked the Food Safety officers accompanying him to take the samples of the food products. Mr. Paramveer Singh said that checking the sale of spurious and adulterated food items especially the sweets and milk products was a prime concern of the district administration.
The Sub Divisional Magistrate said that the checking of the shops would continue till Diwali and random sampling would be done to ensure that hygienic and quality sweets were served to the people. He said that the thrust campaign was to instill a sense of confidence amongst the people that they were being sold quality sweets by the shopkeepers. Mr. Paramveer Singh further said that ensuring quality and hygienic food to people was basic responsibility of the district administration and every step would be taken to ensure that people get pure food products.
Meanwhile, the Food Safety Team also checked sweet shops on Ladowali road and Rama Mandi locality from where 12 samples of sweets were taken.
