DLSA Bathinda holds review meeting discuss to Legal Aid Schemes

Bathinda, January 19: Under the chairmanship of Kamaljit Lamba, District & Sessions Judge, Ms. Manila Chugh, Civil Judge (SD)/CJM-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Bathinda, convened a meeting of District Legal Services Authority and Under Trial Review Committee at Judicial Court Complex, Bathinda. The meeting was held to discuss about the Free Legal Aid Schemes, Legal Aid Clinics, Legal Literacy Clubs and various schemes run by NALSA.
Dr. Nanak Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police, Bathinda, Sukhpreet Singh Sidhu, ADC, Gurmeet Tiwana, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Sukhwinder Singh Sahota, Superintendent Central Jail, Bathinda, Sukhpal Singh Gill, District Attorney and Gurdeep Singh, DPRO, were present.
The major areas for creating legal awareness amongst the masses were identified with emphasis on implementation of various schemes of NALSA relating to Victims of Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation, Workers of the Unorganized Sector, Children, mentally disabled persons, poverty alleviation schemes, Legal Services to the Victims of Drug Abuse and Eradication of Drug Menace. New scheme of Punjab State Legal Services Authority, S.A.S. Nagar Good Samaritan was also discussed /highlighted.
A message was given to General Public that they should make maximum use of 24 hours helpline for the Legal Aid No. 1968 of the Punjab Legal Services Authority, SAS, Nagar Mohali.
The Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Bathinda also emphasized the need to make the General Public aware regarding the benefits of Lok Adalats, he stated that if any person is interested in getting his case settled in the said National Lok Adalat, then he can move separate application in the concerned court where the case is pending and after issuing notice to the opposite party, the case can be settled as per terms acceptable to both the parties.
