‘Third Eye’ caught uninspiring approach towards cleanliness, DC orders action against MC employees
Ferozepur, April 18, 2019. Taking serious note of uninspiring approaching of employees of Municipal Council, Deputy Commissioner, Chander Gaind has directed to take action against the contractual employee and two other door to door waste collectors for throwing garbage at prohibited places, caught in the ‘third eyes’ installed at different places.
A penalty of Rs. 2,000 has been imposed on each offender, said sanitary inspector Mr. Sukhpal Singh.
Chander Gaind expressed his resentment with the poor behavior of municipal employees towards cleanliness of the city and directed the Punjab Pollution Control Board to initiate action against the municipal council (MC) for not maintaining solid waste rules in the city.
He also ordered the municipal officials to confiscate the trolleys of these waste collectors, blacklist them, besides taking departmental action against guilty MC employee.
Calling upon city residents, he said that it is our collective responsibility to make city clean, green and pollution free. He exhorted the people to come forward and take charge of the cleanliness of their nearby areas by not throwing garbage in open and don’t let others do the same act. He said that without the help and support of the city residents, this campaign can never be successful.
Responding surprisingly against the act of MC’s own employees, he directed MC to sensitize its own sanitation employees first, then aware others. After installation of cameras on ten most filthy areas of the city, the improvement has witnessed clearly on these spots but a mass awareness needed to be created among residents, he added.
He said a few educated residents were noticed throwing garbage and peeing in open areas, which is a matter of shame for all of us.
Mr Gaind urged such people to become an inspiration for others by adopting and implementing cleanliness values on themselves first and then aware others about it.
