Amritsar, August 03, 2019 : Prof. Hardeep Singh, Dean, Students Welfare, Gndu, Amritsar while delivering the inaugural address in a one week day workshop on action research and case studies under the center of professional development of teachers education, school of education pandit Madan Mohan mahaviya national mission on teachers and teaching scheme, MHRD, organised at Department of education, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, in the present knowledge Era, it is important in the power to re create professional practices of education.
Teachers need to be equipped with the knowledge, necessary skills and focus to engage in the meaningful inquiry, Prof. Singh highlighted that outcome of
action research can help in attaining sustainability in organizational growth and holistic human development. He also emphasized that by using reflective thinking teachers who are the primary consumer of finding can contribute in producing contextual knowledge.
Prof. Amit kauts, Project coordinator, School of education, while welcoming the guest and participants shared that teachers should understand the process of action research and guiding principles for writing case studies to respond to the complex development environment in which they operate. He stressed on the purpose behind organizing this workshop i.e to make reflective practitioners craft solutions to the dynamic and ever changing classroom issues. Prof. Kaut also pointed out that this workshop would provide a platform to demonstrate their critical thinking skills and abilities to make connections over multiple content areas.
Dr. Deepa Sikand kaut, Head, Department of education oriented the teachers about benefits of action research as it provides systematic inquiry into the teaching practice, thereby helping to improve the teaching learning process. It provides an opportunity to extend existing professional development experience to meet the individual needs. Dr. Deepa also elaborates on how action research and case studies provide convincing evidence to teachers and that makes real distance.
