Secretary RTA sensitizes drivers of heavy vehicles on road safety
Jalandhar, January 11-
Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Dr Nayan Jassal today sensitized the drivers of commercial heavy vehicles on the first day of Road Safety Week on Saturday.
Starting the campaign, Secretary RTA said that following of the traffic rules could save human lives adding that while drivers must not overload the vehicles which can become dangerous for the commuters and themselves also.
She said that they must obey traffic rules, signboards, speed limit, avoid driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs and others.
Likewise, Dr Jassal also said that proper maintenance of vehicles should also be ensured.
The Secretary RTA further said that driving was a careful activity and it should be performed with both mental and physical alertness. He said that the fine of overloading has also been increased to Rs 20000 from Rs 2000.(SB)
