HC orders search of Sirsa Dera, appoints Court Commissioner
Chandigarh, September 5, 2017: Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday ordered search of the headquarter of Dera Sacha Sauda at Sirsa to sanitise it and appointed a Court Commissioner of the purpose.
Haryana government had filed an application seeking the HC directions to conduct search of the Dera headquarter under the supervision of a judicial officer so as to ensure transparency in the matter.
After the hearing, the HC appointed recently retired District and Sessions Judge Anil KS Pawar to work as the Court’s Commissioner during the sanitation process. He will submit the sanitization report in a sealed cover in the HC and to the state government.
The State government was also ordered to pay Rs 1.25 lakh as salary to him besides providing an official car, adequate security staff and other required facilities.
Advocate General, Haryana apprised that 133 deras of the sect in other parts of the state have been sanitized so far but since the Dera headquarter was spread over more than 700 acre with several residential, commercial institutions on its premises needed to be searched and sanitized in a transparent manner.
