Fatehgarh Sahib. May 08, 2019: Out of the first 16 students, who figured in merit list of the matric result declared by Punjab School Education Board today, eleven students are from the district Fatehgarh Sahib. As usual Girl students dominated the merit and Jasleen Kaur daughter of a factory worker studying at Govt. Senior Secondary Smart School Khamano got 2nd position in sports quota in the State and topped in district.
Similarly three students from STS Senior Secondary Public School Nand Pur Kalour figured in State merit list Harmanjot Kaur got 98.77% marks and was placed 7th in State and 2nd in District, Kiranjeet Kaur with 98% is 12th in State and 4th in district and Navjot Kaur with 97.69% got 14th position in State and 5th in district.
Paramjit Kaur Sidhu District Education Officer (Secondary) visited Govt. Senior Secondary Smart School Khamano to congratulate the student and staff. She honoured the student who bought laurels to the district. She said she will call all the merit holders and will honour them. She said Fatehgarh Sahib District was earlier at 6th rank in the State but now it has improved its ranking and placed at 3rd ranking in State. She said the result of district is 89.7%, whereas the board result is 85%.
While talking to reporters Jasleen said his father is a worker in factory and mother is house wife, she has a younger brother and she aspires to become a science teacher, so that she may teach the students in a very simplified manner. She said hard work is the key to success.
