Chandigarh January 15, 2024 - Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that the coordination of language in books is akin to the mutual relationship between body and soul.
The Chief Minister was speaking today at the inauguration of the 2nd Panchkula Book Fair organized by six departments under the aegis of power companies in Panchkula. National Book Trust also has a special contribution in this fair.
The book fair will continue till 22 January. Nearly 100 publishers have put stalls in the fair, in which books of Hindi, English, Urdu, Sanskrit, Punjabi etc. will be available.
“Haryana illuminates with the light of knowledge, knowledge flows through electricity” is the theme of the book fair.
The Chief Minister said that books enhance knowledge. Whenever we get time, we must read books, not just for show but to gain real knowledge.
In ancient times, shruti gyaan was used to impart knowledge to the future generations. Books also free us from mental stress. Books on various subjects including spirituality, sports, culture, stories, narratives and satirists are available in libraries. Every person should buy books.
The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had said that bouquets should not be given at the time of welcome or felicitation. He said that a library has also been opened in Sant Kabir Kutir, Chief Minister's residence. Officers and media persons are also taking books from here.
The Chief Minister said that we all should definitely read the book “Raag Darbari” written by writer Shivlal Shukla, IAS (retd.) because this book also contains the articles of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay on the direction of national life.
He said that he is always doing his work following the verse of Gita, Karmanyevadhikaraste Ma Faleshu Kadachan, he never desired the result, the result comes automatically.
The Chief Minister said that the glory of word knowledge is immeasurable. First there was knowledge of letters, then there was knowledge of words, then sentences were formed, then language and script were formed and books were formed.
Today in the digital age the concept of e-library has also come. It is noteworthy that on 22 October 2020, the first e-library by power corporations under CSR was inaugurated in Kachhwa village of Karnal district.
Today the Chief Minister also inaugurated three more libraries namely Sardar Patel Library Samana Bahu Karnal, Sardar Patel Library Mohadi Kurukshetra and Sardar Patel Library Dholra Yamunanagar through remote.

Gyan Pravah e-magazine on 25 years of reforms in power corporations. Apart from this, he also released the book of Dr. Pramod and Anu Gupta of Higher Education Department.
Presiding over the occasion, Haryana Legislative Assembly Speaker Shri Gian Chand Gupta said that we should read history books. He said that this will give the new generation an opportunity to know their heroes recorded in history. In this way the youth will imbibe the lives of their heroes and create a bright future.
Chairman of Power Corporations, Shri PK Das gave detailed information on various aspects of the second Panchkula Book Fair. He said that the first fair was organized in Panchkula from 14 to 20 December 2023, in which 30 publishers had set up their stalls. Today more than 100 publishers have set up their stalls in this fair. He said that the main objective of organizing the book fair is to connect civilization along with development and it is hoped that this 8-day long book fair will be able to provide an intellectual environment by collecting literature, culture and education.
On this occasion, Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Dr. Amit Agrawal said that books are our best friends. Books are the best source of knowledge, hence everyone must read books.
The meaning of the theme of today's book fair is that just as electric light is reaching everyone's homes, similarly the light of knowledge should also reach everyone's homes, so that man can make his valuable contribution to the progress of the society and the country.
In collaboration with the Women and Child Development Department, through the School Education Department and Higher Education Department, a state level workshop of all the women cell in-charges of Haryana is being organized at Indradhanush Auditorium from 10 am to 2 pm on the occasion of Panchkula Book Fair. Director General of Police Shri Shatrujit Kapoor will attend the state level function as the chief guest. Principal Secretary of Women and Child Development Department, Mrs. Amneet P. Kumar will be specially present in the morning session. Apart from this, senior officers of Women Safety of Police Department will play a special role.
On this occasion, Mayor of Panchkula Mr. Kulbhushan Goyal, Managing Director of UHBVN Dr. Saket Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Sushil Sarwan, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sumer Pratap Singh and others were present.
