Famous Punjabi Poet Jafar gifts his poetry books to Alma Mater’s

SCD Govt. College Ludhiana’s library resources were further enriched when renowned Punjabi poet and Alumnus of the college Jaswant Jafar, a state awardee gifted 9 of his popular poetry books to his Alma Mater.
Jafar recalled his times of the early 1980s in college. In a special Lohri Celebration function where he was a special guest. Jafar recited his latest poem “- Apna Punjab Hovei –Hath Vich kitab Hove- “to the applause of teachers and students there.
He made a special call particularly to the girl students to ensure that their would-be husbands must have a literary taste to enjoy life fully and the guy is away from intoxicants. He also advised students to cling to their roots and shun artificial life.
Principal DR Tanvir Likhari honored him in the presence of Brij Bhushan Goyal Alumni Association coordinator and Dr Sajla Kaushal, organizer of Lohri Function on whose invitation Jafar paid the visit. Also present on the occasion was another 1960s Alumnus Dr Malkit Singh Sidhu – a geographer who also gifted three books on Sikh Philosophy to the college Alumni Authors Shelves. Later Goyal thanked the visiting alumni for their gesture of their books including a book “Assi nanak de kee lagday haan” for his college library.
