Jalandhar, August 26, 2025: Due to continuous heavy rainfall and waterlogging, the District Magistrate Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal has announced a holiday for all government and private schools across Jalandhar district on August 26. The decision comes amid persistent rains in Punjab, which have caused significant flooding and disrupted safe travel routes for students and staff.
The official order highlights that flooding of roads leading to schools has made commuting hazardous, making it difficult for students and staff to attend classes. Authorities have prioritized the safety and well-being of children by suspending school operations for the day.
Similar school closure orders have been issued across various Punjab districts, including Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Fazilka, Pathankot, and Kapurthala, as the state grapples with rising river levels and flood risks.
The administration continues to monitor the weather situation closely and urges residents to stay cautious and adhere to safety guidelines.
This step is part of broader efforts to manage the adverse impact of heavy rainfall across Punjab and ensure public safety during challenging conditions.
