IKGPTU signs MoU with Universal Business School Sydney to boost International academic collaboration

Jalandhar (Punjab), January 23, 2026:In a significant move to strengthen international academic cooperation and enhance technical education in Punjab, I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU), Jalandhar, signed an international Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universal Business School Sydney (UBSS), Australia.
The signing ceremony was held at Punjab Bhawan, Chandigarh, in the presence of Harjot Singh Bains, Minister for Technical Education and Industrial Training, Punjab.
The MoU aims to promote academic exchange, joint research initiatives, faculty and student mobility, and adoption of global best practices in teaching, learning, and research.
Addressing the event, Minister Harjot Singh Bains emphasized that international academic partnerships are a key pillar of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s education reform agenda.
He noted that collaborations with globally reputed institutions like UBSS would enhance research quality, innovation-led projects, joint publications, and exposure to international research ecosystems for both students and faculty.
The Minister also highlighted that the partnership would expand career pathways for students through international exposure, industry-oriented learning, internships, placements abroad, and higher education opportunities. Faculty members will benefit through academic exchange programs, capacity-building initiatives, and participation in international research activities.
Dr. Susheel Mittal, Vice-Chancellor of IKGPTU, and Garry Malhotra, President of UBSS, formally signed the MoU, marking the beginning of a strategic academic partnership between India and Australia.
Speaking at the occasion, Garry Malhotra stressed that cross-border collaborations foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and global leadership among students, while Dr. Mittal reaffirmed IKGPTU’s commitment to expanding international linkages in alignment with Punjab Government’s vision of making the state a hub for globally competitive technical education and research excellence.
