Mansa (Punjab), February 24, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Akali Dal and Congress, alleging that decades of their rule kept Punjab’s children deprived of quality education while political families flourished.
Addressing a gathering in Sardulgarh after laying the foundation stone of a new Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Mann said previous governments focused on securing power for their relatives rather than ensuring progress for the state. The upcoming ITI, being constructed at a cost of approximately ₹24.50 crore on five acres of land donated by the Fatehgarh Sahnewali panchayat, will train 240 students annually in five technical trades, including Electrician, Mechanic Electric Vehicle, Industrial Robotics, CNC Machining, and Refrigeration & Air Conditioning.
The Chief Minister claimed that while traditional parties relied on “outdated engines,” Punjab under his government was moving forward with a new development model supported by AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal. He also criticized the BJP, alleging it was banking on leaders who had defected from other parties to expand its base in the state.
Highlighting achievements, Mann said over 63,000 government jobs have been provided without bribery or recommendation and more than 1,400 doctors recruited. He reiterated that 118 Schools of Eminence have been established, teachers sent abroad for training, and 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics opened to provide free healthcare.
On welfare initiatives, he detailed the launch of the ‘Meri Rasoi Yojna,’ under which 40 lakh families will receive quarterly food kits in addition to wheat supplied under the National Food Security Act. He also cited increased use of canal water for irrigation from 21% to 68%, revival of 18,349 watercourses, and free power supply to over 90% of households.
For Sardulgarh, Mann announced multiple infrastructure projects, including two new bridges worth ₹17.31 crore, sewerage upgrades costing ₹14.76 crore, road upgradation projects exceeding ₹31 crore, and enhancement of grid capacity to ensure uninterrupted electricity during the paddy season. A Mohalla Clinic, Health & Wellness Centre, and Block Public Health Unit will also be set up to strengthen healthcare facilities.
Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia and Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains were among those present at the event.
Mann asserted that his government is utilizing public funds transparently for welfare and development, adding that Punjab’s future lies in strengthening education, healthcare, and skill-based employment for youth.
