Biotechnology Students from CCT, CGC Landran bag top honours at TWESS 2026

Chandigarh, 18 March 2026- Students from the Department of Biotechnology, Chandigarh College of Technology (CCT), Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran, demonstrated outstanding performance at the Tech Women Entrepreneurs and Startup Summit (TWESS) 2026 held at Panjab University, Chandigarh. The summit, an initiative of Regional Accelerator for Holistic Innovations Foundation (PI-RAHI Ropar) and Socio Responsible Organised Thrust Foundation (SROT), was aimed at promoting innovation and entrepreneurship among students and budding startups. It brought together participants from various institutions who showcased their ideas and ventures. In the Startup Category, CCT, CGC Landran’s team MariTag Biosolution, comprising Komal Chandel, Apoorva Mehra, Inderjeet Singh and Kundan Tiwari, all M.Sc. Biotechnology students won the Second Prize. They received a cash award of Rs.15,000/- for their innovative startup concept, which focuses on transforming discarded temple flowers into eco-friendly products that promote a cleaner environment and support a circular economy. In the Ideation Category, CCT, CGC Landran’s Ankita Kamboj and Gunjan Bhardwaj, students of B.Sc. Biotechnology, also secured the Second Prize for their creative idea of a smart irrigation solution. Congratulating the students on their achievement, Dr. Palki Sahib Kaur, Director Principal, CCT, CGC Landran said, “Our students continue to demonstrate exceptional potential in innovation and entrepreneurship. Their success at TWESS 2026 is a reflection of their dedication and creativity. We are proud of their accomplishments and encourage them to continue pursuing impactful research and startup initiatives. Their achievement also underscores the institution’s commitment to nurturing research, creativity and practical application of scientific knowledge in students, she added.
