Breaking: Jantar Mantar no longer a protest site; Delhi designates 3 new venues

New Delhi, October 12, 2026: Jantar Mantar has been de-notified as a designated venue for protests and demonstrations in Delhi, with the authorities naming three alternative locations for holding such events.
According to a notice issued by Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, had constituted a committee to examine alternative venues that would facilitate citizens’ right to organise protests and demonstrations.
Based on the committee’s recommendations, Ramlila Ground, Burari Ground and CBD Ground in East Delhi have been designated as the new venues for protests and demonstrations.
The notice stated that detailed and revised Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for organising protests at the three designated locations would be issued separately.
