Civil Defence Training equips Ferozepur students for natural disasters
Ferozepur, September 1, 2026: A Civil Defence awareness and training programme was organised at SDSS School, Ferozepur, to educate students about the importance, role and functioning of Civil Defence and prepare them to respond effectively during emergency situations.
The programme was organised under the directions of Director General of Police-cum-Commandant General, Punjab Home Guards, and Director Civil Defence Punjab, Ram Singh, IPS, and under the orders of Deputy Commissioner-cum-Controller Civil Defence, Deepti Shikha Sharma. The programme was held under the guidance of Battalion Commander, Punjab Home Guards, Ferozepur-cum-Additional Controller Civil Defence, Gurlavdeep Singh.
Store Superintendent, Civil Defence Ferozepur, Parminder Singh Bath introduced the students to the concept and functions of Civil Defence. He also explained the air raid warning siren system and conducted a live demonstration to familiarise students with emergency warning signals.
The students were further provided practical training and demonstrations on self-protection and rescue measures during an earthquake and other natural disasters. Students and members of the school staff participated enthusiastically in the programme.
School Principal Pushpak Maini and members of the managing committee, including Gagan Singla and Varinder Mohan Singla, appreciated the initiative and said such training programmes help enhance the mental preparedness and practical skills of students.
Principal said the school would also enrol staff members and students on the CD Warrior App. A dedicated WhatsApp group would be created to connect enrolled teachers and students with the Civil Defence Office so that better coordination and advance preparedness could be ensured during any emergency.
Company Commander Anish Gupta and Civil Defence team members Prateek Monga (DR) and Jagjit Singh (Wireless Operator) were also present on the occasion.
