Punjab Govt reschedules Bakri Eid holiday to May 28

Chandigarh, May 25, 2026 — The Punjab Government has officially rescheduled the gazetted holiday for Eid-ul-Zuha (BakrI Eid) from May 27 to May 28, 2026.
According to an official notification issued by the Department of Personnel on Monday, the holiday will now be observed on Thursday, May 28, instead of Wednesday, May 27.
The decision has been taken in accordance with a revised notification issued by the Ministry of Personnel and Training, Government of India.
As per the orders issued by K.A.P. Sinha, all Punjab government offices, boards, corporations, and educational institutions will remain closed on May 28.
The notification further stated that the holiday has also been declared under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, making it applicable to banking and financial institutions across the state.
