Punjab MC Polls: Elections for 4 Municipal Councils on June 10

Chandigarh, May 25, 2026: The Punjab State Election Commission on Monday announced the schedule for the general elections to elect members of four Municipal Councils — Dinanagar, Gurdaspur, Qadian and Sham Chaurasi. Polling will be held on June 10, 2026.
According to the notification issued under Section 13-A of the Punjab Municipal Act, 1911, the nomination process will begin on May 28 and continue till June 1 between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM at the offices of the designated Returning Officers.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on June 2, while candidates can withdraw their nominations till 3:00 PM on June 3.
Voting for all four Municipal Councils will be conducted from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on June 10, and counting of votes will begin immediately after polling concludes on the same day.
The Commission said all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections.
With the announcement of the poll schedule, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force with immediate effect in the concerned Municipal Council areas and will remain in force until the completion of the election process.
