Chandigarh, January 30, 2021: Bhartiya Kisan Union (Rajewal) president, Balbir Singh Rajewal today addressed media through a press conference in Kisan Bhawan, Sector 35 here. Rajewal said the on-going agitation has now become 'Jan Andolan' and it has created history in the world in terms of participation of people and peaceful manner.
Rajewal said the government is trying hard to suppress the agitation of farmers as in some parts internet connectivity, water, and electricity supply has been snapped. He appealed to all the people to participate maximum in the agitation.
He said, "I have come here because the government has snapped the internet in Haryana following which the connectivity of Delhi borders with Punjab and other states got affected. The internet connectivity suspended by the government in Haryana is condemnable. Protesters are suffering from this and their voices are not reaching here properly."
He added the protest belongs to all the castes as every protester is living there with love and respect. Punjab and Haryana are brothers and Haryana serving us all the essential needs.
Rajewal also said, "We must maintain peace in the agitation as the violence will lead to the victory of Modi government."
Speaking on the issue of Republic Day violence, Rajewal slammed RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) and said that the violence at Lal Qila was the result of RSS conspiracy. At Ghazipur border also, some MLAs of BJP provoked the farmers, which is shameful, he said. "The government tried their best to suppress the agitation of Ghazipur border but thanks to Rakesh Tikait, who controlled the situation greatly. The SKM (Samyukt Kisan Morcha) has honoured Rakesh Tikait for his contribution and for giving huge strength to the agitation. The people of Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh are now reaching at Delhi borders in large numbers."
He also said, "We had followed our fixed route for tractor march despite the police started diverting us towards Ring road. We are having a videography of our rally which will be shown to the police during their investigation. He added that the SKM was shocked on seeing the unexpected events during the tractor march as it was not expected.
Rajewal said, "The Red Fort is nation's pride and whatever took place, was not expected. However, the impact of Republic Day violence remained for just two days. Now the agitation again restored to its original position and it will rise even more in future."
He added that the SKM is worried about seeing that a few groups of people, as well as their tractors, went missing after the Republic day incident. On the issue of FIRs being registered against the farmers and union leaders by the Delhi police, Rajewal said, "If the police arrest me, the agitation will not get affected as the people will take care of the agitation" while adding that "the registration of criminal cases is quite often in every protest."
