Covid-19 screening camp organized by SGPC for Nankana Sahib pilgrims
Amritsar, February 15, 2021: As a Covid-19 report has been made mandatory for the pilgrims going to Pakistan to attend the centenary events of Saka Sri Nankana Sahib, a coronavirus screening camp was organized at the office of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Amritsar.
Inaugurating the camp organized by the SGPC in collaboration with the health department, SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said that a jatha (group) of Sikh pilgrims would travel to Pakistan to mark 100th anniversary of Saka Nankana Sahib.
“It will include prominent personalities and sangats. Due to the necessity of Covid-19 test for the pilgrims going to Pakistan, the facility of screening camp has been provided at the SGPC office. A two-day camp will continue till Tuesday, February 16”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.
Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the pilgrims who could not join the camp could also get the Covid-19 test done at their own level, but the report required for the pilgrims should be 72 hours before February 18, when they would be crossing the Attari-Wagar border.
SGPC president said that special samagams (events) have been organized by the SGPC in India to commemorate Shaheedi Saka of Sri Nankana Sahib. The samagams would be held from February 19 to 21 at Godharpur village in Gurdaspur district, where the family of Shaheed Bhai Lachhman Singh had settled after partition.
Bibi Jagir Kaur appealed to the sangat to pay homage and respect to great martyrs by participating in these samagams as much as possible.
