HC verdict Row: Sikh groups and leaders to meet on Tuesday to roll out action plan-Sukhpal Khaira
Chandigarh, April 25, 2021: Perturbed over the denial of justice in sacrilege cases, Sikh bodies, and prominent personalities under the leadership of former Akal Takhat Sahib Jathedar Bhai Ranjit Singh today denounced the high Court judgment quashing the SIT report on Kotkapura firing incident in 2015.
Terming the HC judgment as political, they held the Punjab government responsible for failing to defend the report in the court. They decided to announce the action program against the HC judgment on Tuesday during PC at Gurdwara Amb Sahib.
Sukhpal Singh Khaira, who organized today’s meet told the media that there are strong emotions among Sikh Diaspora against the flawed judgment. He said this judgment has killed all hopes of justice in aggrieved families and communities.
The Punjab Government has failed to do justice in all sacrilege-related cases whether it’s Barghari or Behbal or Maur blast, said Khaira.
Dal Khalsa Spokesman Kanwarpal Singh said it looks the judiciary and government are biased vis-a-vis sacrilege-related cases.
Taking exception, he said the judge has accused the SIT head Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh of preparing the report keeping in mind his post-retirement political settlement.
