Chandigarh, December 9, 2021:
Reacting to the victory of Kisan Morcha, former IAS Officers recommended the Nobel Peace Prize to Sanyukt Kisan Morcha.
A special meeting of the core committee meeting was convened on Thursday by Swaran Singh Boparai and Rameshinder Singh, patrons of the forum, to discuss the victory march after the success of the agitation. The farmers, who were martyred in this agitation, were remembered for their fearlessness while praising the unity and discipline of the farmers' organizations.
Forum, an organization of former IAS, IPS, Army and other civil society people, congratulating leaders of Morcha, farmers and all others, who contributed to the andolan in any manner, on this unprecedented success, said that this peaceful movement has become a path setter for all times to come.
It was specially mentioned in the meeting that apart from repealing of the three farm laws and acceptance of other demands by the Central Government, this agitation has several other achievements to its credit such as strengthening bonds of brotherhood among people from various parts of the country and unity among commoners for a larger common cause. The process and achievements of this movement will continue to be researched for a long time.
All the members of Kirti Kisan Forum took part in this struggle with open heart and went ahead according to their finances. It was also decided that the forum would continue its work in the future to improve the lives of the people of the countryside. Expressing the sentiments of all the members of the forum, the Core Committee on Thursday recommended the Nobel Peace Prize for the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha for its unique role in protecting the future of the country's over 50 per cent working peasant population. Among those who attended the meeting were P. S. Sahi, Dhanbir Singh Bains, G.K Singh, Harkesh Singh Sidhu and Pirthi Chand.
“The success of peaceful Kisan “andolan” and the unique peasant movement has been lauded all over the world. When the farmers of Punjab started marching towards Delhi a year ago and crossed barricades with fellow Haryana farmers at the Shambhu border, marching for miles and miles, no one knew that this movement would make history in the world. The tenacity and discipline of the peasant agitators against all odds has set the new benchmarks for all concerned,” stated the forum.
