"She was fielded by the Congress party as its candidate, but she missed out on getting elected as three days before the polling, the then Speaker of the Haryana Assembly Satbir Singh Kadian, who was also an INLD MLA, had removed six MLAs, Jagjit Sangwan, who were supporting Kiran Chaudhary, from power. , Karan Singh Dalal, Bhim Sen Mehta, Jai Prakash Gupta, Rajinder Bisla and Dev Raj Dewan were disqualified from the membership of the Haryana Legislative Assembly under the anti-defection law. However, despite Kiran challenging the Speaker's decision in the Supreme Court, the 6 disqualified MLAs did not get the right to vote in the Rajya Sabha elections, the result of which was that Sardar Trilochan Singh, who was contesting as an independent with the support of INLD, lost the election. He won while Kiran lost the election," shared Hemant Kumar.
"Ajay Chautala, the elder son of O.P. Chautala and father of former Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, was elected from the second Rajya Sabha seat. However, after 20 years, Kiran Chaudhary is now going to the Rajya Sabha from Haryana. The dream is coming true," he added.
Kiran Chaudhary, who left the Congress party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) two months ago on June 19, 2024, has been declared the party candidate for the by-election to a Rajya Sabha seat from Haryana which has been vacant for the last two and a half months. It was immediately accepted by the speaker.
Hemant Kumar further said that all the petitions filed by Congress party MLAs against Kiran Chaudhary under the anti-defection law will also be automatically dismissed because now After his resignation from the Haryana Legislative Assembly, there is no justification left to disqualify him as an MLA.
