"People made up their minds to bring Congress to power": Bhupinder Hooda
Rohtak/Ambala (Haryana), October 6, 2024 (ANI): Congress leader and former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda said on Sunday that the people of the state had already made up their mind to bring the party to power a long time ago.
His statements come after the exit poll projections, which show that the Congress party is expected to form the government in Haryana.Addressing the media on Sunday, Hooda expressed his gratitude towards the people of Haryana for participating in the assembly polls peacefully.
"I want to thank all the voters of Haryana for conducting a peaceful election. Exit polls came yesterday but I have been saying this for a long time: people have made up their minds to bring the Congress party to power with a huge majority. Congress was in power from 2005 to 2014 and people have seen our achievements and when the BJP-JJP was in power from 2014 to 2024, people have seen how they failed," Hooda said.
The voting for the 2024 Assembly elections in Haryana concluded on Saturday and the exit polls projected a clean sweep for the Congress in the state, with some polls projecting the party would win more than 50 of the 90 seats in the assembly.
According to the Republic TV-Matrize poll, the Congress Party may get 55-62 seats out of 90, while the BJP is poised to win 18-24 seats.People Pulse poll survey said that the Congress may get 44-54 seats, the BJP 15-29 and others may win up to 4-9 seats. Dainik Bhaskar, in its poll survey, suggested that the Congress will get 44-54 seats, the BJP 15-29 and others may get 4-9.
As per the Dhruv Research polls survey, the Congress may get 50-64 seats, and the BJP may win up to 22-32 seats in the state.
Meanwhile, Haryana recorded a final voter turnout of 65.65 per cent till 11:45 pm on Saturday across all the 90 assembly seats in the single-phase assembly polls in the state.
Following the exit poll projections, the BJP candidate from Ambala, Aseem Goel, expressed confidence in the BJP to form the government for the third consecutive time here.He said that politics was a game of claims and that the picture would be clear in the next 48 hours.
"Politics is a game of claims. The picture will be clear in the next 48 hours. BJP will form the government in Haryana... AAP has not played a major role in the Haryana assembly elections as they have no vision... I will congratulate Haryana AAP President Sushil Gupta if the majority of their candidates can secure their deposit," Goel said.
A total of 1,031 candidates contested in 90 assembly constituencies, and 20,632 polling booths were set up for voting in Haryana.The votes will be counted on October 8 for both assemblies in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir.
In the 2019 Assembly elections, the BJP won 40 of the 90 seats, forming a coalition government with the JJP, which won 10 seats. The Congress secured 31 seats. However, JJP later broke out of the coalition. (ANI)
