Chandigarh, April 30, 2025:Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij has criticized Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann for his statements regarding water allocation, made in the context of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB).
Mann had alleged that the Centre is attempting to coerce Punjab into releasing more water, despite the state having already fulfilled its obligations.
Countering this, Vij said, “Punjab is making misleading claims. The fact is, that Haryana has not yet received its full share. Even the technical committee of BBMB flagged implementation delays from Punjab’s side.”
He added that such disputes must not overshadow the national security situation, stating, “The country is on the edge of war — this is a time for unity, not division.”
He emphasized that “Punjab is a border state and must act responsibly. Petty politics over water, especially now, only serves to harm national interests.”
