Bhai Rajoana steps out of jail for check-up, declares SAD will form Govt in 2027

Patiala (Punjab), April 30, 2025: A significant political statement has emerged from Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, who is currently serving a prison sentence in Patiala Central Jail. Rajoana, who was taken to Rajindra Hospital today for a routine medical check-up under police escort, made a public appeal during his brief interaction with the media.
Speaking to reporters outside the hospital, Rajoana called for unity among Sikh political groups and urged the people to come together to ensure the formation of a Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) government in 2027.
He said, “This is the time for Panthic unity. Everyone should unite to bring back the Shiromani Akali Dal government for the welfare of Punjab and the Sikh community.”
Rajoana also pressed for a decision regarding his own legal situation. “I have long been demanding that a final decision be taken regarding my sentence. Justice delayed is justice denied,” he said, expressing frustration over the prolonged legal uncertainty in his case.
Rajoana, a former police constable, was convicted in the 1995 assassination of then Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, and has been on death row.
