Punjab Committed to Drug-Free future: Coordinated awareness drive launched across Ferozepur villages
Ferozepur, April 30, 2025: As part of the state government's intensified campaign against drugs, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a grassroots-level awareness initiative through its recently formed Nasha Mukti Wing (Drug De-addiction Front). This campaign aims to fulfill the promise made by AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to eradicate drug abuse from the state.
To ensure the success of this war on drugs, AAP has appointed coordinators across different constituencies of the Ferozepur district. These coordinators will reach out to people at the city, block, and village levels to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promote de-addiction support.
At a press conference held at the District Council Office, Malwa West In-charge Chaspinder Singh Chahal emphasised the seriousness of the campaign. He stated that strict directives have been issued to police and administrative officials to take uncompromising action against drug smugglers. "No one involved in the drug trade will be spared," he said. Chahal also urged AAP leaders, volunteers, and members to take active responsibility in identifying drug peddlers and motivating addicts toward recovery.
District Coordinator Harjinder Singh (Kaka Sara), Urban Coordinator Dr. Amandeep Kaur Gosal, Rural Coordinator Harmanpreet Singh Sidhu, Jira Constituency Coordinator Baljinder Singh, and Guru Har Sahai Coordinator Iqbal Singh were present during the event.
Harjinder Singh expressed gratitude to the party for initiating this mission and called for collective efforts to eliminate the "sixth river" of drugs flowing through Punjab. He highlighted the devastating impact of drug addiction on families and stressed the need for both awareness and free treatment for addicts as part of the campaign.
Several AAP leaders and members were also present at the press conference to show their support for the initiative.
