Chandigarh, May 3, 2025: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini on Saturday accused Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann of acting in an "unconstitutional" manner by allegedly attempting to block Haryana’s legitimate share of river water.
Following the all-party meeting over water sharing row between Punjab and Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini addressed a press conference that water is a national resource and cannot be claimed by any one state.
“This water belongs to the entire country. During partition, water was divided between India and Pakistan, and later among Indian states. So, water does not belong to a particular state,” he said.
Calling for restraint and rational dialogue, Saini added, “This is not as big an issue as it has been portrayed. It can be resolved with mutual cooperation and adherence to constitutional directives.”
