Batala (Punjab), May 10, 2025: The rising tensions along the India-Pakistan border are now impacting cities in Punjab. On Saturday, the administration of Batala city in Gurdaspur district declared the situation serious, issued a red alert, and enforced a complete shutdown across the city.
Only medical shops have been permitted to remain open, while all other markets, shops, and institutions have been closed.As part of security measures, sirens are being sounded continuously to keep residents alert and discourage unnecessary movement outdoors.
Authorities have issued clear instructions: residents should stay indoors unless absolutely necessary, remain calm, and stay vigilant.
Police and security forces are conducting regular patrols across the city to maintain order and ensure public safety.The administration has also urged the public not to pay heed to rumors circulating on social media and to rely solely on official updates.
Officials emphasized that the shutdown is a precautionary step aimed at safeguarding the public.At present, the situation is reported to be under control, but authorities warn that even a small misstep could have serious consequences.
