SAS Nagar (Punjab), May 12, 2025: In a nationwide appeal to the country’s youth, MY Bharat, an initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, has invited young citizens to enroll as MY Bharat Civil Defence Volunteers.
The campaign is part of a broader effort to strengthen community-based response mechanisms and empower youth to play a frontline role during emergencies and crises.
Providing details of the initiative, Isha Gupta, District Youth Officer, Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), said that the mission is to develop a trained, responsive, and resilient volunteer force to assist civil administration during natural disasters, public emergencies, accidents, and other unforeseen challenges.
“In light of evolving security concerns and increasing incidents of natural and man-made disasters, the need for a structured community response is more critical than ever,” Gupta noted. “Civil Defence Volunteers act as the backbone of support to local authorities—helping in rescue operations, first aid, crowd control, traffic management, public safety, and disaster relief.”
The initiative seeks to instill civic responsibility, discipline, and life-saving skills among the youth. Volunteers will be trained to respond effectively in high-pressure situations, making them valuable assets to both their communities and the nation.
MY Bharat invites both current volunteers and new entrants to join this noble cause. The registration process is simple and can be completed through the official portal: https://mybharat.gov.in.
